Did You Miss Us? We had a glitch with the newsletter software for a couple of weeks. Which was frustrating as we couldn't tell you about our amazing youngsters. Their news is a little further down the page. Since we've been unable to send a newsletter the weather has gone from red skies to murky wet grey ones. This week is literally a washout! Luckily although the roads and fields around us are flooded... we are just windswept and interesting. See the difference in the recent weather below: The image above was taken looking towards the hangar...at the end of a good flying days couple of weeks ago. We wanted to include it because it is just so stunning! This image below was taken today! Bit of a difference we think you will agree! Unlike the magical images (below) that were taken by Gill McNeil with Jack Broom during his night rating course. Looking at the weather at this time of year, it's a good idea after gaining a PPL to go on and do an IR(R) or a night rating... Both of which you can do at Enstone Flying Club, funnily enough! ππ... Which is why Jack Broom is taking every opportunity to build his hours post PPL whilst continuing his training. 22nd February Anniversary News Skipper has been running the flying club for 19 years today. π± And doesn't look a day older! Ably assisted by Amelia Earhart, known to her subjects as Millie-Mog! Fitting then that the new Spitfire Mk26B should arrive on this very day. The weather today didn't help the task in hand... it was very cold and wet but, with the help of the driver arriving early we managed to avoid the worst of the showers... Thanks to BA Hull for supplying outstanding man power and big toys to get the job done! The syndicate members and volunteers were on hand to provide the muscle and lots of suggestions of the best way to unload. Everyone was in very good spirits and with true teamwork, efficiently moved the Mitchel and Royce Spitfire from the container to the BA Hull low loader and then into the hangar. Paul H and Dave are checking and logging all the parts so we should see them again by next Friday. Well Done Simon Courtney Sorry it has take a few weeks to get this in the newsletter Simon... Congratulations to Simon Courtney on passing his Skills Test with Gill McNeil on Thursday 1st February... it was a gorgeous day for it. Quite busy out there but Simon showed how to be a cool pilot. We are not sure who was more excited at the news: Simon or his father, David! Above is Simon with Examiner Gill and his Instructor Richard Pitts. Richard has been training Simon up to when he was old enough to fly his first solo at 16, and now to his PPL at 17. Extremely well done to Simon who now has his wings! Congratulations Conor Horgan Congratulations to Conor Horgan on his first solo last week with Gillian McNeil his 'weekday instructor', Conor who is just 16 also flys at weekends with Wilko.
