The Club House

Enstone Flying Club first came into being in 1987, the brainchild of flying enthusiast Tom Miller. The Club had modest beginnings, and moved around different sites on the airfield until settling into its present permanent accommodation.

Running on sunshine

The club house and hangar are now served by our hybrid power system, one of the delights of a WW2 airfield is that they had very little infrastructure, sometimes a blessing other times a curse.

We now have a 6.3kw solar array which feeds our very hungry battery bank, our generator tops up the batteries when required. This system has more than halved our diesel consumption throughout the year, we hope to expand system this so that we can run purely on solar for most of the year. A small step forward in reducing our reliance on diesel.

Great Location

The club house is set in a fascinating location, on a former World War II airfield –  in a building with panoramic views from inside and out over the runways

With top quality Tea and Coffee, snacks and the famous "Mrs Miggins" home made cake ( pilots have been know to fly great distances to get some)  a fabulous wood burning stove for the winter months, the club lounge is a place to stay.........for a long time.

Friendly

The club runs a highly professional but friendly flying school, provides extensive facilities for aircraft owners, whether club members or visitors, has regular social meetings, both locally and through ‘flyouts’, ensures that everyone, whether club member or visitor has a thoroughly good time.

The Club has a membership of over 100, with  70 members and 30+ students currently on roll.

The Social Side

We are much more than simply a flying school. Enstone Flying Club is also a strong social community with a friendly, informal atmosphere where families are always welcome. We hold regular fun events such as “Pilots in the Pub” which meets the first Thursday in every month at the Crown Inn, Church Enstone,Enstone Flying Club.

We always welcome new members, whether seeking initial or advanced training, or just an opportunity to socialise with other like-minded people with a passion for flying. There are regular Flyouts - group outings so you can meet friends within the flying community. We also run a mentoring scheme, with experienced mentors who can help you after your flying training.
